WARNING: This is a rant.

I've learned that teachers can really make or break a class....duh.... I mean the subject matter. The tricky thing is learning how to over look a shitty careless professor/instructor.
Exhibit A: AC 111-225..my Advertising & Promotion class. MOST boring class/wasteOf3Hours I've ever put myself through, and it's all because of the professor. Okay, yes I understand that you were a happenin' hot shot AD guy back in 1965 and developed so many fabulous prototypes and gave everyone the coolest nicknames (probs why we talk about Mad Men every week also)... but none of that is helpful to me. in this class. right meow. when I have to take a midterm in a week that is written from the BOOK. Don't get me wrong, my professor is a nice teeth-whistlin' little man, but I don't think he's quite cut out to be a teacher, let alone a Professor.
Exhibit B: Grumpy yoga instructor, I don't appreciate it when I'm trying to relax and take deep breaths, in through my nose out through my nose, that I am distracted by you yelling at a poor girl because she put her water bottle and coat in "your space," not in the cubbies. It's even more distracting when you continue to speak to her like she is a complete idiot, when obviously, she has never attended your class before. And this rant is over because I will continue to take her class because it's free and she teaches 2 out of the 4 days that are available each week. The end. side note: Tuesday instructor is my all time fave.
SO, with all this being said, Exhibit B taught me a lot about Exhibit A. In exhibit B I put up with the annoying instructor because I  want to take the yoga class - I just need to apply the same thinking in regards to exhibit A. At one point I wanted to take Advertising and Promotion because I found the subject matter interesting, so while I'm sitting in class dying a slow death, I just need to remind myself of the interest I once had. I'll just have to take learning the material into my own hands..I mean, I only paid like $120 for the book, so I might as well read it.

peace an blessin's

  1. Well said! I'm not sure I would have managed to find the "positive insight" through all of that!
